I recently gave birth to our beautiful girl. She’s strictly breastfed, so I can’t do much without her, and I’m completely okay with that. But one thing is driving me crazy: I can’t take a shower alone. I barely get 2-3 minutes before the baby cries, and then my husband brings her in because “it nearly makes him cry whenever she does.”
With that said, his life hasn’t changed AT ALL — he takes his 30-60 min uninterrupted showers daily!
Today, he brought her into the shower again, and I was just FED UP. I love my baby, and I love being with her. I’m just so tired and need 15 minutes for myself… But then, a perfect idea struck me. I closed the door and made a call.
…I called his mother.
I sweetly said, “Hey, can you come over for just an hour? I have a little surprise for your son.” She was intrigued and said she’d be right over.
When she arrived, I handed her the baby and told her to wait in the living room. Then, I marched into the bathroom, pulled the shower curtain open, and said, “Your turn.”
He looked confused until I put the baby right into his arms. “She’s all yours for the next hour. Don’t leave the bathroom.” Then I walked out, closed the door, and went out for a long coffee with my MIL.
When I came back, he looked frazzled, soaking wet, and begging me to take her. His mom just smiled and said, “Now you know.”
Since then? I’ve been getting my 15-minute showers in peace every single day.
